It is part of the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, making it an important place for studying plants and nature. History Of Alnarp Manor

Alnarp Manor, also known as Alnarp Castle or Alnarps Slott in Swedish, was built in the 1860s, and its grand design reflects the Dutch Renaissance architecture of the time. The manor has always been part of an institute and was never owned by a nobleman, so it isn’t technically a castle. The land, however, was initially owned by a Danish nobleman, which is why it was named this way.

Why Your Family Should Visit Alnarp Manor

Alnarp Manor is a great place to explore if you love history, nature, and a relaxing day out with your family. The park is full of beautiful trees, flowers, and even some rare plants. 

You can take a walk on the paths, have a picnic, ride your bike around or just enjoy the fresh air. Kids can run around and explore, making it a fun place for families to visit. Whether you’re interested in the history of the manor or just want a peaceful day in nature, Alnarp Manor offers something for everyone. Plus, it’s only a short drive from the city of Malmö, so it’s easy to get to – and it’s free!

Our family visited in October and I would argue that this is one of the best times to visit the park. Although spring could also be lovely with flowering plants. 

The diversity of trees in the park creates a kaleidoscope of colors when the leaves are changing color. In addition, the vines that cover one side of the castle burst into various shades of reds, oranges, and yellows. The other side of the manor has bright green vines that don’t change color but are still beautiful to view.

What You Need To Know Before Visiting Alnarp Manor And Parks

How To Get To Alnarp Manor

By Car

Driving to Alnarp Manor is an easy trip from Malmö. Depending on where you’re coming from in the city, it will take about 20 minutes to get there. There is a parking lot right next to Alnarp Manor where you can park for free. 

By Public Transportation

There are a couple of different ways to get to Alnarp manor by public transportation. 

First option is that you can take a train from Malmö to Ålkarp. However, you will still be 2.2 kilometers away from Alnarp Manor which is about a 30-minute walk. 

Another option and probably the best and fastest is to take the 139 bus to Campus Alnarp. You will be right in the town of Alnarp and it is only a short 10-minute walk to Alnarp Manor. 

By Bike

If you have a bike and are feeling adventurous, you can take a bike ride out to Alnarp Manor from Malmö. It is approximately a 40 minute bike ride. 

Visiting The Castle Interior

Unfortunately, the inside of Alnarp Manor is not open to the public. It is part of the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and is used only by the university.

What Facilities Are There

Public Restroom

There is a public restroom right next to Alnarp Manor. 

Restaurants And Cafes

There are not any restaurants or cafes in Alnarp Park, but there are a couple of options nearby. 

Alnarp 9 – his cafe serves lunch and fika throughout the year. Lunch is served between 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM, and fika is served between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM. In the summer months, the cafe operates on a limited basis. Check the website for times and up-to-date information.

Plantkaféet – Another option for sandwiches, pastries, espresso, and more is Plantkaféet. It is not only a cafe but also sells plants. They are open Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Saturdays and Sundays. Hours in the summer are different, so be sure to check their website for updated hours.
