Just last weekend, we went to Hamburg, Germany for a couple of days to do a little Christmas shopping and attend a concert. The holiday festivities are underway, and we had a blast visiting multiple Christmas markets in Hamburg.
In fact, with the markets spread out throughout the city, we were able to explore and hit up so many of them. Below I’ll give you all the info on the 7 Christmas markets in Germany that we went to, and the one that wasn’t quite open yet, but is a must-visit.

Marché De Noël – Stadthöfe Courtyard

On Friday evening after we arrived, we headed down to the Stadthöfe courtyards near our hotel. We saw glimpses of a Christmas market there and wanted to check it out before dinner.
This upscale Christmas market in Hamburg isn’t really for kids. It is, however, a great spot for adults to enjoy a beautifully decorated courtyard with tasty drinks, delectable food options and fun live music.
We loved the decorations and we each got a gin glüh, which was deliciously strong.
There are two other smaller Christmas markets in the Stadthöfe courtyards including the Petit Noël in the stairwell of the hotel TORTUE and Chez Noël in the Palaishof.
Marché de Noël is open from 12pm to 10pm from Tuesday to Sunday and 3pm to 10pm on Mondays between November 13th to December 23rd, 2025.
Petit Noël is open from 3pm to 10pm on Monday to Saturday and 3pm to 8pm on Sunday.
Visit Chez Noël on Tuesday to Sunday between 12pm and 10pm and 3pm to 10pm on Monday.
Santa Pauli – Adult Only Market

Friday evening we had a concert in the St. Pauli neighborhood. After the music, we went to check out the X-rated Christmas market in Hamburg since the kids were at the hotel. This is not of the Christmas markets in Hamburg that sells trinkets and traditional glühwein.
You, of course, can still get a glühwein (actually we saw some of the cutest mugs at any of the Christmas markets here), but the presents you buy won’t be socks and Christmas star lights. Shop for you naughty gifts here, and then step into a tent to get see a strip tease.
This Hamburg Christmas market was hilarious to go to, but so so busy. We found a fun little gift and went on our way!
Enjoy the sinful Santa Pauli market from November 10 to December 23, 2025. Opening hours vary during the week:
Monday – Wednesday: 4pm – 11pm
Thursday : 4:00pm – 12:00am
Friday: 4pm – 1am
Saturday: 1pm – 1am
Sunday: 1pm – 11pm
Christmas Market At St. Peter’s Church

Another one of the Christmas markets in Hamburg to visit is the one surrounding St. Peter’s Church. You will find many traditional booths festively decorated for Christmas. The location next to the church is a really nice setting for a Christmas market.
Alongside the shops, they have fairytale story worlds to discover. While my older children thought they were a little weird, I could see young kids really enjoying the diarama-style creations of Little Red Riding Hood and Santa Claus.
The Christmas market by St. Peter’s Church is open November 20 to December 27th from 10:30am – 9:00pm everyday.
HafenCity Christmas Market

Over near the Maritimes Museum and the warehouse district, Speicherstadt, is the HafenCity Christmas Market in Hamburg. Combine exploring the huge warehouse complex with a visit to this fun market.
We didn’t see many shops, but a larger tent with some food and drink options on Überseeboulevard.
Next to this tent, we stumbled upon a fun play area for the kids and us. There you can play winter mini golf or curling. We, of course, had to play the mini golf course!
The HafenCity Christmas Market is open from November 17th, 2025 to January 4, 2026. The hours are 12pm to 8:30pm every day of the week.
Hamburg DOM

If you are looking for carnival rides and family fun, the Hamburg DOM is where you want to go. This huge fair is filled with exhilarating rides and tons of fried food.
Isaac and I filled a few hours of our evening the other weekend when we were in Hamburg. We had a great time walking around and screaming our hearts out on the rides. Our favorite ride was Circus Circus!
The Hamburg DOM is running between November 7th and December 7th, 2025. Opening hours vary by day. Here’s the schedule:
- Sunday 2pm – 11pm
- Monday 3pm – 11pm
- Tuesday 3pm – 11pm
- Wednesday 3pm – 11pm
- Thursday 3pm – 11pm
- Friday 3pm – 12pm
- Saturday 3pm – 12pm
Christmas Market At The Gänsemarkt

While we were walking towards the White Magic Christmas Market on Binnenalster Lake, we found this charming little market.
The Christmas Market at the Gänsemarkt is small, but the cute thing about it is that all the little buildings are shaped like gingerbread houses. So adorable and worth a stop!
The Gänsemarkt Christmas Market is open daily between 11am and 9pm with food and drink stall staying open until 11pm. Enjoy this market between November 20th and December 23rd, 2025
White Magic On The Jungfernstieg

The White Magic Christmas Market next to Lake Binnenalster is lined with white tents and Christmas lights. We walked through during the day, so it wasn’t as enchanting as it could be in the evening. At night, the lights and the setting would make for a beautiful market to visit.
There is an old historic ferris wheel that is super small next to the water. It is cute, but I think I would would be a little nervous to ride it if I’m being honest.
See the lights and festive atmosphere between November 18th and December 23, 2025. The stalls are open from 11am to 9pm everyday except Friday and Saturday when they stay open and extra hour.
Historic Christmas Market At Hamburg Town Hall
One of the most picturesque Christmas markets in Hamburg has to be this one. The Historic Christmas Market at Rathausmarkt is what you would imagine a German Christmas market to be like.
With charming little stalls all decked out in Christmas decorations in one of the most beautiful squares in Hamburg. Complete with flying Santa and all!
Sadly, this Hamburg Christmas market was not yet open when we were visiting in November, but they were setting everything up. I would have liked to check it out, so I guess I will just need to return!
The historic Christmas market is open from November 24th to December 23rd, 2025 from 11am to 9pm daily.
Christmas Markets In Hamburg
The Christmas markets in Hamburg were really nice and we enjoyed them.
My favorite was sipping a drink in the beautifully decorated Stadthöfe Courtyard while the most fun was the adult only Santa Pauli market. I had no idea there were adult only Christmas markets. What a fun idea if you aren’t with your kids!
However if you are with the young ones, the nearby Hamburg DOM will delight all of you with the bright lights and exciting rides! I hope you have a wonderful time experiencing the joyful Hamburg Christmas markets. We know we sure did!
