Getting To Corniglia

By Train

Arriving by train is the most convenient way to reach Corniglia. The train station sits at sea level, which means you’ll need to get up to the village perched high on the cliff.

You have two options: take the shuttle bus that runs between the train station and the village center, or climb the famous Corniglia stairs (officially called Scalinata Lardarina).

The staircase has 382 steps and offers beautiful views as you ascend, but it’s quite a workout. The shuttle bus is a great alternative if you’re carrying luggage or prefer to save your energy for exploring.

By Car

Driving to Corniglia gives you more flexibility, but parking is limited. Also you will want to explore the Cinque Terre area via train as none of the towns allow cars.

There’s one main parking lot near the village with about 60 parking spaces. Expect to pay around 20 euros per day, though there are discounts available for multiple days.

At the bottom of the stairs, you’ll find a rocky area that’s perfect for swimming. The rocky coastline creates natural pools and platforms for jumping into the deep, clear water.

While it’s not the best area for little kids due to the rocky terrain, older kids and teens will absolutely love this swimming spot.

For a more adventurous beach experience, Guvano Beach is another option nearby that you can access by kayak or boat.

Fair warning: It’s a nudist beach, so only visit if you’re comfortable with that atmosphere!

The secluded location and dramatic cliffs make it quite a unique swimming experience for those seeking something off the beaten path.
